angel

this one was quite a challenge, it was a picture sent to me as a text. i had to draw it up and make it into a back piece for a new client.
the father of a friends boyfriend, (still with me?) has had the image for a little while and finally got round to getting the tattoo done today.
hes got tattoos already but nothing on his back which suited me fine.
the drawing of this was hard work getting the wings to look symetrical but i think i did ok. so this is officially all my own work. although i never freehanded onto skin i did draw the whole thing from the text image i was sent.
the shading was good fun though the guy did bleed quite a lot which made things a little bit difficult, however less than two hours later and weve got a pretty good picture here.
hes already looking for ideas to fill in the gaps on his arms to make complete sleeves and i think he was quite pleased with his new tattoo. the man sat for the whole time with barely even a flinch, hes a legend! well done to us both i think xx

a good hand

i took my Tattoo Source book with me and while i was doing the dragon on his back jo was looking through at the designs. he found an image of a hand of cards a think its called a royal straight though its been a while since i worked in a casino. the image has a scroll of writing that said born to lose, live to win and jo decided at about 5pm he would really like this one too.
so i set about drawing it up and putting the stencil on.
it was quite a fiddly design with lots of different little pictures in one but it was enjoyable.
it was all my own too i didnt need to try and match it to anything as it was far enough away from the other designs to be its own piece.
i think i did an ok job though i fear he may want a couple of bits redone once it has healed as it was getting late and the false light in the kitchen was casting difficult shadows. but i dont mind. it was great to get stuck in to a real picture for a change.
jo had mentionned there are more designs he would like so i will hopefully see them all again soon. the family were really lovely and i would like to thank jo and elaine and their two beautiful children for their hospitality and patience xx look forward to seeing you all again

dragons

the dragons arent mine unfortunately they were drawn and tattooed by another artist. but jo, felt as though something else was needed to make the design complete so we added some swirly bits and some more cherry blossom flowers to what was already there and came up with a similar design to draw the hole thing together.
jo has collected his tattoos from all over the world and it was great to be able to add my work to his collection too. again it was difficult to make it similar enough to match the work already there but i think it works quite well..
this took us to about 4:30pm id been tattooing at this point since midday and was getting grouchy lol but they kept me going with cups of tea and bars of chocolate xx thanks for the rocky bar it was wonderfull.

added flowers

this was the second part of my day, after donna left i travelled to kilwinning to a new family referred to me through a friend of a friend. this one in particular now belongs to elaine. she already had the upright flower design but felt that it finished too abruptly and wanted it taken a little further around her waist to give the design a more complete look.
it took a couple of tries with our little sharpie pens but we finally came to design we were both happy with and i set to work.
it was difficult in one respect trying to make my work match up with the piece she already had but i think we managed it quite successfully.
we also added a couple of swirly bits to the final design which set it off nicely. elain was quite pleased and was off out that night with a brand new tattoo. hope you enjoyed the tribute acts elaine lol xx
